• A wallet must be given with money in it.  to avoid bad luck if you receive an empty wallet for a gift, put some money in the wallet and give it to another.

• Handkerchief is another item which carries with it something negative for the recipient.  it is believed that a gift of handkerchief will either bring tears of grief to the recipient or lots of sweat in frustration.

• When taking the baby out with you, put cross on or her forehead with a bright red lipstick.  this will distract the attention of any stranger casting a glance at the baby.

• Make the baby wear a red coral bracelet red coral is regarded as a talisman against witches and sorcerers.

• An illness inflicted by a witch will get worse if the patient, or the victim of the witch’s curse, seeks medical treatment.

• Garlic protects one from evil spirits and vampires.

• When travelling in an unfamiliar place either by foot or by car and you find yourself lost, or as if you’re just going in circles in trying to find the way out of there, wear your clothes inside out.  this will defeat the malicious spirits playing evil tricks on you.

• A sparrow is said to carry the souls of the dead so killing this bird is believed to bring misfortune.

• A black cat walking towards you is akin to good fortune coming your way.  but if the black cat walks away, the good luck goes with it.

• It’s a bad omen if someone in the household is ill and your dog howls by the front door.

• If a dog howls at midnight, a ghost is supposedly wandering in the area.

• If you dream of fish, it means that someone you know is pregnant.

• A goldfish in an aquarium brings good fortune.

• Dreaming of a lizard is a warning that you have a secret enemy.

• To drop a fork means a man is coming to visit; to drop a spoon, a woman is coming to visit.

• If the tip of you nose itches, someone is coming to see you.

• A person with big ears is said to possess long life.

• Going to bed and falling asleep with your hair still damp will make your hair turn grey.

• Menstruating women should not take a bath as this will make them go mad.

• A single or unmarried person is believed to remain one for the rest of his or her life if frequently left by his or her dining companions, to finish his or her meal alone.
