Ferdinand Magellan was born in 1480 at Porte de la Barca, Portugal.  His Portuguese is Fernao de Magallanes.

Magellan led the first expedition to proved that the world is round by sailing from east to west.

He is the one who discovered the Philippines, an archipelago which is abundant of spices.  He is the first Spanish to spread Christianity and at the same time first to conquer the Philippines in the name of Spain.

In April 27, 1521, a bloody fighting erupted in Mactan between the Filipinos and the Spaniards.  This battle cost the life of Magellan in the hands of Lapu-lapu.

 

 

 

            Si Ferdinand Magellan ay ipinanganak noong 1480 sa Porte de la Barca, Portugal.  Ang pangalan niya sa Portuguese ay Fernao de Magallanes.

            Si Magellan ang siyang namuno ng unang ekspidisyon upang patunayan na ang mundo ay bilog sa pamamagitan ng paglalakbay mula kanluran patungong silangan.

            Siya ang nakatuklas sa Pilipinas, isang bayang sagana sa mga pampalasa sa pagkain.  Siya rin ang nagsimula ng pananakop ng Espanya sa Pilipinas at nagpalaganap ng kristiyanismo ditto.

            Namatay si Magellan sa kamay ni Lapu-lapu noong ika-27 ng Abril 1521 sa Mactan, kung saan naganap ang isang madugong paghaharap ng mga Pilipino at Kastila.
