Sit and Reach

| February 15, 2009 | 0 Comments

This test measures flexibility.  It can be done in any flat surface such as floor and turf.  A tape measure is needed to measure the distance reached during the test.

Procedure:

  1. Attach a tape measure on the floor and draw a line around a meter long on the 50th centimeter mark.
  2. Let the performer sit on the floor, astride the tape measure with legs extended and the heels about 30 centimeters apart, securely braced against the toes of the buddy, standing astride the tape with toes directly in line with the 50-centimeter mark.
  3. Let the performer raise both arms upward, thumbs together and allow him/her to slowly reach with both hands as far forward as possible with the fingertips touching the tape measure.
  4. Let the performer hold this position while his buddy records the distance reached by the fingertips.  If the fingertips on the tape are not even, the score will be based in the fingertips of the hands nearer the body of the performer.
  5. Another trial is taken and the buddy records only the best score of the two trials.
  6. The performer exchanges role with his/her buddy.

Note:    Bouncing or jerking forward is not allowed.
