Short Declamation : Five Loaves of Bread

She stood at the bar of justice

A frightened creature wan and wild—

In form too small for a woman,

In feature too old for a child.

Deklamasyon: Anakpawis

Isang tao, munting taong kaharia’y nasa bukid,
May maliit na bakurang abot-tanaw ng silahis;
Nagtatanod – isang kubong kabahaya’y tila langit;
Ang libangan, halamanang sa looba’y nagtatalik;
Sa maghapon, ang kawaksi’y ang sariling mga bisig…
Munting tao, hamak lamang – iyan ako, anakpawis.

Deklamasyon: Ito Ang Bayan Ko

Ito ang bayan ko:
Pitong libong pulong kupkop ng Bathala,
ngunit dinuhagi at sinamantala ng mga banyaga;

Lipi ng magiting na mapaghimagsik ang puso at diwa,
Unang Republikang sa dulong silanga’y nagtamo ng laya;
Ito ang bayan ko: sumilang sa dugo’t nabuhay sa luha
At pinagsawaan ng lahat ng biro’t hampas ng tadhana!

Declamation Piece: It Is Raining

It is raining.
Where would you like to be in the rain?
Where would you like to be?
I’d like to be on a city street
Where the rain comes driving down
Trying to make things neat
As it washes the houses, roof and wall
The taxis, buses, cars, and all.
That’s where I’d like to be in the rain
That’s where I’d like to be.

Declamation Piece : The Oak And The Reed

The oak one day address the reed:

“To you ungenerous indeed
Has nature been, my humble friend,
With weakness aye obliged to bend.
The smallest bird that flits in air
Is quite too much for you to bear;
The slightest wind that wreathes the lake

Your ever-trembling head does shake.
The while, my towering form
Dares with the mountain top
The solar blaze to stop,
And wrestle with the storm.
What seems to you the blast of death,
To me is but a zephyr’s breath.
